Google Wallet up and running on T-Mobile Galaxy Nexus

Google Wallet up and running on T-Mobile Galaxy Nexus

Hear that? It's the sound of Google Wallet pennies clinking inside a Galaxy Nexus, despite the fact that we have a T-Mo SIM inserted. It previously only worked with AT&T. Although we downloaded the app from Google Play and got it up and running fine, we haven't actually paid for anything yet -- so let us know if you have any successful transactions!

[Thanks, @mobilehavoc]

Google Maps offers photo tours of popular destinations, won't make you leave the couch (video)

Google Maps offers photo tours of popular destinations, won't make you leave the couch (video)

Looking to get a better feel for that Yosemite National Park expedition this summer? Google Maps is looking to go beyond the regular ol' snapshot and offer an experience that feels more like an actual visit -- only you won't have to leave your sofa. The folks in Mountain View have added photo tours to over 15,000 sites around the globe from Italy to the aforementioned Half Dome in California. A search for your virtual destination of choice will indicate whether or not a tour is available for that particular locale. How does it work? The outfit uses user-contributed Picasa and Panaromio photos -- only those listed as public -- alongside some fancy computer techniques to provide a 3D tour. Along the way, Maps selects the best possible path through the highest quality images. At the bottom of each photo, contributor credit is given and Goog says when more shots get shared, these tours will improve over time. You'll need Google Maps with WebGL to get the sightseeing started, though. If you're looking for a quick preview, hit the video just past the break.

The Facebook Phone Rumor Is Back

facebook-droidOnce upon a time Michael Arrington broke the news that Facebook was developing its own phone. That was in 2010. However in a followup interview with TechCrunch, Mark Zuckerberg killed the notion, saying they're pursuing a horizontal strategy that will put a social layer on top of existing platforms. "We?re not trying to compete with Apple or the Droid or any other hardware manufacturer for that matter," he said. But now, two years later, that strategy may have changed. A new report hit today stating that Facebook and HTC are co-developing a customized Android smartphone. This phone, said to be developed exclusively for Facebook, would integrate all of the social network's functions into the mobile platform. Per unnamed industry sources, the device would launch at the earliest in the third quarter of 2012.

Android 4.0.4 factory images hit the web for GSM Galaxy Nexus

Android 4.0.4Sure, pushing builds of Android 4.0.4 out over the air is great, but what if you want to keep that unblemished piece of Ice Cream Sandwich for posterity? You could download the AOSP files, but you'd be missing some vital ingredients from the official factory images. Thankfully, build IMM76I of Google's mobile OS is available to download in a simple archived format. With this release Big G is also introducing a second version of its software. In addition to the standard "yakju," there's now "takju," which includes Google Wallet and the necessary support files. If you're a safety first kind of guy or gal and like to keep a simple factory reset kit handy (you know, just in case that latest CM9 nightly doesn't work out so well), head on over to the source link to download the untainted Android images.

Ashton Kutcher Suffers From 'The Butterfly Effect': Sick Day Stash

It's no surprise that Apple fans are hesitant to believe Ashton Kutcher can pull off the role of the company's co-founder Steve Jobs. His boyish good looks and goofy personality lean more toward projects like his past roles in "That 70's Show" and "Dude, Where's My Car?" But the Jobs biopic producer, Mark Hulme, told [...]

CSRM Sports Outreach Summit | Church Sports Outreach | Sports ...

Guest post from Maranda Curl

In a few days, the Association of Church Sports and Recreation Ministers (CSRM) wlll be hosting the sports outreach summit just outside of Dallas, TX.? The Summit exists to bring together men and women who desire to use the tools of sport and play to impact their local communities for Christ. While there are several sports ministry conferences that exist, the primary uniqueness of CSRM is the intentional focus on the local church as the primary instrument of influence for maximum kingdom impact.? Each Spring since 1997 hundreds of sports ministers from the US and abroad have been coming together to network, learn from one another, and be encouraged.? The 2012 Summit has a great line up of speakers, dozens of great workshops, and most importantly, over 100 sports ministers from across the country coming together for the event.

Content at the conference will range from theology, philosophy, and Biblical foundations for sports ministry to the nuts and bolts of running a sports league within the church.? Special guests have been invited to speak on specific topics including utilizing social media within a ministry context, running big events, leading from the middle, summer camping, community partnerships, and much more.

I?ve personally been involved in the Summit for the past 5 years and am encouraged each year to see the connections that are made by men and women with similar passions, interests, and challenges.? I?m always amazed to see how the Lord works year in and year out to accomplish His plans through this event.? As the Summit coordinator I have a front row seat to watch how the Lord moves in the lives of people at the Summit each year and I?m excited to see what He has in store for us in a few weeks in Dallas!

***Bob Schindler and Tim Briggs will be in attendance at the conference as well as presenting some workshops.

Courtney Love Apologizes to Frances Bean Cobain

Courtney Love apparently realizes the error of her celebrity gossip-reading ways.

Who knows where she even heard the rumor, but Love angered her daughter by claiming that former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl hit on Frances Bean Cobain.

Dave and Frances denied this vehemently, and Love, Kurt Cobain's widow, says she regrets spreading the rumor. Courtney apologized, again on Twitter.

Courtney Love is Insane

"Bean, sorry I believed the gossip," Love tweeted Saturday. "Mommy loves you."

Frances angrily answered her mom's accusations late last week saying:

"While I'm generally silent on the affairs of my biological mother, her recent tirade has taken a gross turn. I have never been approached by Dave Grohl in more than a platonic way. I am in a monogamous relationship and very happy."

Frances is engaged to Isaiah Silva, frontman of the band the Rambles.

Grohl also said the claims were "offensive and absolutely untrue."
